General Information About The Treasurer's Office

The County Treasurer is an elected official serving a four-year term of office. This office is directed by the Legislature of the State of Oklahoma through the Statutes. The Oklahoma State Statutes is the authority by which the Treasurer operates.

The primary duty of the County Treasurer is to collect and apportion the taxes that have been certified by the County Assessor. The taxes are disbursed to the taxing authorities (school districts, cities/towns, the county, special districts, etc) according to the budgets approved by the County Budget Board.

The County Treasurer is the official custodian of all funds for the County and Treasurer for schools and vo-tech institutions that do not have their own treasurer.

Other duties of the Treasurer include receiving all monies, maintaining correct and proper accounting of all funds, and investing all monies until they are needed.
